POTOSI – UYUNI – SALT FLATS – SUD LIPEZ – LA PAZ

Day 01: POTOSI – UYUNI TRANSPORTATION
11:00 am transfer from hotel/hostel to Potosi bus terminal and check IN.
12:00 pm bus Potosí – La Paz (05 hrs. approximately).
17:00 pm Estimated arrival to Uyuni and transfer to the Hotel.
Hotel: Private room, with private bathroom + breakfast.
Included: Transfer and local bus ticket (Potosi – Uyuni) + hotel (Uyuni).

Day 02: EXPEDITION UYUNI – SALT FLATS – INCAHUASI (ISLA DEL PESCADO) – SAN JUAN
Breakfast at the hotel, and free until departure time of tour.
11:00 am. Departure of the tour to the largest salt desert in the world; during the trip we will visit the following places:
Train Cemetery.- Vintage locomotives and trains of the late 1890´s and early 1900´s, the used to serve as carriers of salt and minerals throughout Bolivia and South America, these trains were part of a very important industry.
Population of Colchani.- Located at the banks of the great salt flats, Colchani serves as the main entrance to the salt desert; here you can observe the extraction of salt in its native and original form.
Salt Hotel.- Located at the heart of the great salt desert, it is constructed entirely of salt blocks. It is an amazing piece of art work, since every single detail is made of salt such us; chairs, beds, and tables as well as the structure itself.
Incahuasi Island (Isla del Pescado).- Located in the middle of the salt desert, Incahuasi or Isla del Pescado is populated by numerous giant cacti with incredible heights of up to 10 meters. From the top of the island you are able to see an amazing landscape of the great salt flat of Uyuni. After our visit to the island, we will provide lunch before departing towards the town of San Juan, here we will provide dinner and accommodation at a family home (basic refuge) for the evening.

Day 03: SAN JUAN – TREE ROCK – LAGOONS – LAGUNA COLORADA
After breakfast we will continue our adventure with destination to Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon), passing through a viewpoint of the active volcano of “Ollague” and the following lagoons: Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota and Honda which are populated by a wide variety of flamingos. Around noon, lunch will be provided and during the afternoon we will pass through the Siloli desert where we observe a very unusual and interesting rock formation known as “Arbol de Piedra” (stone tree), after the visit, we will arrive to Laguna Colorada which is located at the Andean Fauna Eduardo Avaroa National Park, here we will provide dinner and accommodation at a family home (basic refuge) for the evening.

Day 04: LAGUNA COLORADA – LAGUNA VERDE – UYUNI
Early in the morning, we will depart in order to appreciate the Geysers and volcanic vents (volcanic zone) known as “Sol de Mañana” (Morning Sun), continuing to the thermal waters of Polques where you can relax in the warm waters before continuing to the White and Green Lagoons which are located at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano. At an altitude of 4,350 masl, here you will see the intense green color of the lagoon, due to its high content of magnesium which is found in the geological formations surrounding the area. After the visit, you will depart back to the town of Uyuni, passing through the Valley of Rocks and the populations of Villa Alota, Kulpinaka and San Cristobal arriving to Uyuni within the afternoon hours. Later on, you will take an overnight bus to La Paz, so you will have some free time in Uyuni until the bus departs.
20:00 pm overnight bus Uyuni – La Paz (10 hrs approximately).
Included: Shared vehicle (Land Cruiser 4x4), breakfast and lunch + touristic bus ticket (Uyuni – La Paz).

Day 04: ARRIVAL TO LA PAZ
07:00 am approximate arrival to the station of La Paz city.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Take sheltered clothes, sunglasses, sleeping bag, sun cream, a towel, (Personal Stuff).

Note:

  • This is a scenic expedition and does not include a guide.
  • It does not include entrance fee to the Red Lagoon (Laguna Colorada) and Fish Island (Isla del Pescado).

Info: The appropriate months to visit this circuit is between May – December (dry seasons).
December – March (rainy season, it is not recommended to visit the Salt Flats in this season)
