CHALALAN ECO HOSTEL

The eco hostel -CHALALÁN has been built on the banks of the magnificent lake Chalalan, combining elegance and comfort, using local materials, respecting the natural environment and rescuing the traditional characteristics of construction from our community of San José of Uchupiamonas.
Design and distribution of different facilities of our hostel has been designed and planned in detail by the people of San Jose (The Josesanos) taking advantage of the vast knowledge they possess about the virtues of the jungle. Walls made of Palm trees , interiors covered with mats, rooves with sheets of jatata (local plant) and apartments of noble wood, the Ecological Hostel CHALALÁN is an exclusive and incomparable place in the world.

DAY 01: FLIGHT LA PAZ - RURRENABAQUE
A.M. pick up from your hotel/hostel in the city of La Paz and transfer to the airport of La Paz.
A.M. Flight La Paz - Rurrenabaque. (Duration of the flight is 01 hour). Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon meeting in the Office of Chalalan where you will fill in the forms for admission to Madidi Park and you will receive information about the trip to Chalalán Madidi National Park.
Hotel: Provided a room with private bathroom and breakfast.
Included: Transfers, Flight ticket La Paz - Rurrenabaque and Hotel in Rurrenebaque.


Day 02: RURRENABAQUE - CHALALÁN ECOLODGE
After breakfast in the hotel 07:20am the guide will pick you up and take you to the port where you will take the boat take the boat to the Ecolodge. The boat journey takes about 5 hours and a half browsing the Beni and Tuichi rivers, the trip is an opportunity to enjoy and appreciate beautiful landscapes such as the Cañyon del Bala, landscapes of tropical forest, with the possibility of watching some animals and birds during the trip until reaching the port of Chalalan. (Half way on the route we serve a boxed lunch). On arrival it is a 25 minute walk to the Chalalan lodge, on arrival yuo will appreciate a welcome lunch and accommodation. In the afternoon, after lunch we will have a short walk by one of our thematic paths, where the local guide will be the interpreter of the tropical rainforest and its traditional use. Return by canoe to observe several species of monkeys and birds. After dinner we will start a short walk to observe the night life of animals, especially a variety of insects.
Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, shared boat, guide, entrance to the Park, spend the night in the Ecolodge Chalalan.


Día 03: CHALALÁN ECOLODGE – PARQUE NACIONAL MADIDI.
After breakfast at the Ecolodge we will have a guided walk of 3 to 4 hours for the path Tapacaré or another similar, where you can observe and learn about medicinal plants, the behaviour of animals and everything relating to the forest, then after our walk will return to the Ecolodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, after a short break (NAP), we will visit the viewpoint from where you can see the beautiful scenery of Lake Chalalan and the extensive primary tropical forest of the Madidi National Park. We will hear a talk about the history of the community, the Chalalan project and the creation of the Madidi Park.
Dinner at the Ecolodge. At night, we can then either take a ride in a canoe, or take a night hike to observe nocturnal animals and birds.
Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, shared boat tour guide, overnight in the Chalalán Lodge Eco.


DAY 4: CHALALÁN ECOLODGE - RURRENABAQUE
Early breakfast at the Ecolodge.then we will have a short walk by one of our trails this will be your last chance to see the animals and birds. We return to the lodge and have our lunch. After lunch, we walk back towards the Chalalán port to make our return journey to Rurrenabaque by motor boat. During the trip, it is recommended to be always attentive to be able to observe some animals.
Arrival to Rurrenabaque and accommodation at the hotel. The return journey takes only 3 hours.

Day 05: FLIGHT RURRENABAQUE - LA PAZ
Breakfast in the hotel and at indicated time transfer to the airport
AM: Flight Rurrenabaque – La Paz.
Included: Breakfast and transfer out, Flight ticket Rurrenabaque - La Paz airport.

NOTE: Does not include entrance fee to the protected areas of the jungle.

Recommendations on what to pack (Clothes adapted for the moisture for a tropical climate)

  • Long sleeve shirts if it is possible cotton (for the protection from the mosquitoes and the sun).
  • Long pants (for the protection from the mosquitoes and the sun), thick jeans are not advisable
  • Shorts.
  • Light windproof jacket.
  • 2 pairs of sneakers.
  • A pair of sandals
  • Swim suit.
  • Rain poncho. (In rainy season: November – March)
  • Pairs of socks.
  • Sun Glasses

DAY 4: CHALALÁN ECOLODGE - MADIDI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast at the Ecolodge, we start a walk towards the river, this time a long walk all day (6 hrs approx.) to delve into the depths of the forest and have the opportunity to observe animals such as theespider monkey, tapir, deer, wild pigs and also learn more about the interpretation of the tropical rainforest and ecological processes. Along the way we shall stop for refreshments and after a short break and observation of landscapes, return to the Ecolodge along the same path. Arrival to the Ecolodge, snack of arrival. After a break, you can enjoy a swim in the lake and afterwards dinner will be served buffet-style.
After dinner we can take a canoe ride this is a special activity to view the impressive brightness of the eyes of alligators and other animals. Then we will have a Traditional night (Quechua - Tacana) where our local guides will give an explanation about traditions, customs and rituals of indigenous Uchupiamonas, activity in which we can also taste a traditional local drink, enjoy local music and dancing with people in our community San José de Uchupiamonas.
