With an amazing cobblestone road which joins or links the highlands with the subtropical zone passing through the “Palca Canyon” with an amazing view of the Mt. Illimani at 6,480 masl with pre-Columbian roads built to perfection by the Incas to the area of Coroico or North Yungas
Crossing the most beautiful mountain range of the Andes and descending to the sub-tropic humid regions of the Yungas, you will walk through the different ecological zones and discover true beauty step by step with different sceneries that change between the lost Indigenous towns located within the mountains as well as the crystalline cascades and suspension bridges until descending to an amazing 1,300 masl.
These pre-Columbian paved roads constructed during the Tiwanaku and Inca culture united the mountain peaks to the valleys, also many rivers originating from the Andes discharge its waters into the amazons. During this trek you will observe a wide variety of birds, toxic flowers and hanging bridges.

08:00 am Pick up from hotel/hostel (La Paz city area only) in private transport and depart from the city of La Paz to the town of Choquecota located at 3,900 masl 2.5 hours away from the city, the cooks and carriers who will take all of the camping equipment for the group will be there waiting at Choquecota for us. Once acquainted we begin our long walk passing through the “San Francisco Mines” and an impressive breathtaking scenery of the snowed Mururata mountain (5,870 masl) from here we begin ascending until reaching the Apacheta (highest point of the mountain; heap of a mountain) located at 4,800 masl and you will notice how temperature in this region changes, after a well deserved rest at the Apacheta and lunch we continue walking until we reach Takesi (3,800 masl) here we will set up our camp, have dinner and rest for the next day’s trek.

After breakfast we descend gradually until reaching Kakapi, throughout the way down you will begin to notice a climate change, in order to enjoy the exuberant vegetation that the Yungas region possesses. Passing through many rivers where you will have a chance to shower if the climate allows it you will arrive to KaKapi, where dinner will be provided as well as camp.

After breakfast we descend gradually for about three hours until reaching “Mina Chojlla” located at 2,200 masl, throughout the way down you will find a wide variety of flora, wildlife and here you will observe flocks of parrots and macaws while resting and enjoying every little thing nature has to offer.
12:00 pm approximate arrival to the Chojlla Mine to have Lunch and there you will take a private transportwhich will take you and your belongings back to the city of La Paz while passing through the Coca and fruit plantations of Coroico.
17:00 pm approximate arrival to the city of La Paz.
