LA PAZ – UYUNI – SALT FLATS – SUD LIPEZ – POTOSI – SUCRE

Day 01: OVERNIGHT BUS LA PAZ – UYUNI
20:00pm: Transfer from Hotel to La Paz bus terminal and check IN.
21:00pm: Overnight bus La Paz – Uyuni (10 hrs approximately).
Included: Transfer + Touristic bus ticket (La Paz – Uyuni).

Day 02: EXPEDITION UYUNI – SALT FLATS – INCAHUASI (ISLA DEL PESCADO) – SAN JUAN
07:00am: Approximate arrival to Uyuni, transfer to office and free until departure time of tour.
11:00am: Depart on tour to the largest salt desert in the world; during the trajectory you will visit the following:
Train Cemetery.- Vintage locomotives and trains of the late 1890´s and early 1900´s, serving as carriers of salt and minerals throughout Bolivia and South America, this trains where part of a very important industrial past.
Population of Colchani.- Located at the banks of the great salt flats, Colchani serves as the main entrance to the salt desert; here you can observe the extraction of salt in its raw and craft form.
Salt Hotel.- Located at the heart of the great salt desert, it is constructed solely of salt blocks. It is an amazing piece of art work since every single detail is made from salt like chairs, beds and tables as well as the structure itself.
Incahuasi Island (Isla del Pescado).- Located in the middle of the salt desert, Incahuasi or Isla del Pescado is populated by numerous giant cacti with incredible heights of up to 10 meters plus and from the top of the island you are able to see an amazing landscape of the great salt flats of Uyuni. After our visit to the island we will provide lunch before departing towards the town of San Juan, here we will provide dinner and accommodation at a family home (basic refuge) for the evening.

Day 03: SAN JUAN – TREE ROCK – LAGOONS – LAGUNA COLORADA
After breakfast we continue our adventure with destination to Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon), passing through the active volcano of “Ollague” and the following lagoons: Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota and Honda which are populated by a wide variety of flamingos. Around noon lunch will be provided and through the afternoon you will pass through the Siloli desert where you will observe a very unusual and yet interesting rock formation known as “Arbol de Piedra” (stone tree), after the visit you arrive to Laguna Colorada which is located at the Eduardo Avaroa National Park of Andean Fauna, here we will provide dinner and accommodation at a family home (basic refuge) for the evening.

Day 04: LAGUNA COLORADA – LAGUNA VERDE – UYUNI
05:00am this day we will depart very early in the morning in order to appreciate the Geysers and volcanic vents (volcanic zone) known as “Sol de Mañana” (Morning Sun), continuing to the thermal waters of Polques where you can relax in the warm waters before continuing to the White and Green Lagoons which are located at the feet of the Licancabur Volcano. At an altitude of 4,350 m.a.s.l, here you will see the intense green color of the lagoon, due to its high content of magnesium which is found in the geological formations surrounding the area. After the visit you will depart back to town of Uyuni, passing through Valley of Rocks and the populations of Villa Alota, Kulpinaka and San Cristobal until arriving to Uyuni at approximately 18:30 hrs. and accommodation in the hotel.

Day 05: LOCAL BUS UYUNI – POTOSI
Breakfast at the hotel then free time until departure.
10:00am: Local bus Uyuni – Potosi (05 hrs approximately).
15:00pm: Approximate arrival to Potosi and transfer to Hotel.
Free in the afternoon.
Hotel: Bedrooms with private bathroom + breakfast.
Included: Transfer Out/In, local bus (Uyuni – Potosi) + Hotel in Potosi.

Day 06: TOUR TO SILVER MINES – CASA DE LA MONEDA (MUSEUM)
08:40am pick up from hotel to initiate your great and interesting adventure to the great silver mines of Cerro Rico – Potosi, beginning the tour visiting the miner’s market, a place where hundreds of miners gather to equip themselves with materials and the necessary equipment for working such as: dynamite, ammonium nitrate, detonators, lamps, drills and most importantly for the hard work liquor and coca leaves. Also we purchase some coca leaves, alcohol, and cigarettes for giving a tribute to the Mother’s earth “Pachamama” and the “Tio” the guardian of the mine.
After the visit to the market you will visit the refinery of minerals which has maintain active after many years, here we will observe how to amalgamate the minerals, after the visit you will head towards the silver mines to observe the harsh working environment of the miners as well as the actual extraction of the minerals and silver and others in its native form.
AFTERNOON VISIT TO CASA DE LA MONEDA MUSEUM. Without a doubt it is the most important building in South America, with the old colonial architecture Don Salvador de Vila was the architect and builder who projected and build the Mexican and Peruvian house of coins. The construction of the house of coin is due to the great amounts of silver which was extracted in those times from “Cerro Rico”.

Included: Tour to the Silver Mines (transportation, guide + equipment), Visit Casa de la Moneda Museum + Hotel (Potosi).

Day 07: POTOSI – SUCRE TRANSPORTATION – CITY TOUR
09:00am: After breakfast transfer Potosi to city of Sucre (03 hrs approximately)
12:00pm approximate arrival to the city of Sucre and transfer to hotel.
AFTERNOON CITY TOUR SUCRE.- Sucre is also known as the “White City”, with a historic downtown that withholds an old colonial architecture from past centuries and without a doubt one of the most beautiful cities in Bolivia and in South America. During the tour you will visit the enchanting streets and significant sites where important events happened in the history of Latin America and Bolivia, here you may feel engaged by the aura and beauty expressed by the neoclassical facades and magnificent colonial churches as well as the major landmarks of the city.
Hotel: Bedrooms with private bathroom + breakfast.
Included: Shared transportation Potosi – Sucre, City Tour (touristic transportation, guide and entrance fees) + hotel accommodation.

Day 08: AIR FLIGHT SUCRE – LA PAZ
--:-- am after breakfast transfer from hotel to airport in Sucre.
--:-- am air flight to the city of La Paz (1½ hrs. approximately).
Included: Transfer (hotel – airport) + flight ticket (Sucre – La Paz).

  • This is a scenic expedition and does not include a guide.
  • It does not include entrance fee to the Red Lagoon (Laguna Colorada) and Fish Island (Isla del Pescado)

Info: The appropriate months to visit this circuit is between May – December (dry seasons).
December – March (rainy season, it is not recommended to visit the Salt Flats in this season).
