LA PAZ – UYUNI – SALT FLATS – SUD LIPEZ – SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA EXPEDITION

DAY 01: OVERNIGHT BUS LA PAZ - UYUNI
20:00pm: Transfer from Hotel (downtown area only) to Tour Bus departure point and check IN.
21:00pm: Overnight bus La Paz – Uyuni (11 hrs approximately)
Included: Transfer (Hotel – Tour Bus) + bus ticket (La Paz – Uyuni)

DAY 02: UYUNI – SALT LAKE – ISLAND OF THE FISH - SAN JUAN.
07:00am: Arrive to Uyuni transfer to our office and free time until the tour begins.
11:00am: depart on tour to the largest salt desert in the world; during the trajectory you will visit the following:
Train Cemetery.- Vintage locomotives and trains of the late 1890´s and early 1900´s, serving as carriers of salt and minerals throughout Bolivia and South America, this trains where part of a very important industrial past.
Population of Colchani.- Located at the banks of the great salt flats, Colchani serves as the main entrance to the salt desert; here you can observe the extraction of salt in its raw and craft form.
Salt Hotel.- Located at the heart of the great salt desert, it is constructed solely of salt blocks. It is an amazing piece of art work since every single detail is made from salt like chairs, beds and tables as well as the structure itself.
Incahuasi Island (Isla del Pescado).- Located in the middle of the salt desert, Incahuasi or Isla del Pescado is populated by numerous giant cacti with incredible heights of up to 10 meters plus and from the top of the island you are able to see an amazing landscape of the great salt flats of Uyuni. After our visit to the island we will provide lunch before departing towards the town of San Juan, here we will provide dinner and accommodations at a family home (basic refuge) for the evening.

DAY 03: SAN JUAN – TREE ROCK – LAGOONS – LAGUNA COLORADA
After breakfast we continue our adventure with destination to Laguna Colorada (Red Lagoon), passing through the active volcano of “Ollague” and the following lagoons: Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota and Honda which are populated by a wide variety of flamingos. Around noon lunch will be provided and through the afternoon you will pass through the Siloli desert where you will observe a very unusual and yet interesting rock formation known as “Arbol de Piedra” (stone tree), after the visit you arrive to Laguna Colorada which is located at the Eduardo Avaroa National Park of Andean Fauna, here we will provide dinner and accommodations at a family home (basic refuge) for the evening.
Included: Shared Jeep (4x4), breakfast, lunch and dinner + accommodations (basic refuge).

DAY 04: RED LAGOON - GREEN LAGOON – SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA
This day we will leave very early to our tour (05:00 a.m). to be able to appreciate the Geisers better - fumaroles (volcanic area), but well-known as "Sun of Tomorrow" then we continue to the thermal waters - Polques, there we have breakfast, break, then continue to the "Green" lagoon located to the feet of the volcano Licancabur, to a height of 4.350 m.a.s.l., the green colour owes itself high content of magnesium that possess the geologic formations of the area, after our visit to the green lagoon we continue to the border “Emigration” and change the car to go to San Pedro de Atacama and you’ll arrive around 13:00 pm.
Included: Breakfast, shared jeep until the border “Hito Cajones” + transfer to San Pedro de Atacama.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Take sheltered clothes, sunglasses, sleeping bag, sun cream, a towel, (Personal Stuff).

Note:

  • This is a scenic expedition and does not include a guide.
  • It does not include entrance fee to the Red Lagoon (Laguna Colorada) and Fish Island (Isla del Pescado)

Info: The appropriate months to visit this circuit is between May – December (dry seasons).
December – March (rainy season, it is not recommended to visit the Salt Flats in this season).
